CUANDO LOS ENFERMOS GOBIERNAN EL MUNDO
(WHEN THE SICK RULE THE WORLD)

August 5 –September 5, 2017
FEBRUARY 14, a performance, on August 5 at 4:30pm (25 min long)

Biquini Wax E.P.S. is pleased to present Arnold J. Kemp’s CUANDO LOS ENFERMOS GOBIERNAN EL MUNDO (WHEN THE SICK RULE THE WORLD). This exhibition marks the first time the artist’s work will be shown in Mexico, and features sculptural installation, architectural interventions, and a single performance of a piece of theater. The play, FEBRUARY 14, concerns artworld gossip, art education, and artworld romance, and will be performed at the opening on August 5 by a cast of local artworld luminaries.

The title of this exhibition is inspired by a collection of essays by Dodie Bellamy, one of the pioneers of the literary genre New Narrative. Bellamy’s writing views heteronormativity and capitalism as plagues, and celebrates the micro-revolts of those on the outskirts. In the same spirit, Kemp’s exhibition defiantly blends forms, examines the social body, explores its sickness and proclaims that mortality is sexy.
